Paula started her career as a Registered Dietitian after a successful
15-year career as a financial advisor. She holds bachelor's degrees
in both economics and nutrition, and is currently completing her
master's degree in nutrition at the University of New Mexico.
Her areas of specialty include clinical nutrition, sports nutrition, and individual nutrition consulting. Her clients include professional athletes as well as individuals managing a broad spectrum of medical diagnoses and physical challenges. Paula is part of an interdisciplinary team working with wound care patients, an in-patient dietitian at the University of New Mexico Hospitals, and also works outpatient in areas of oncology, cardiovascular disease, diabetes management, dyslipidemia, gastrointestinal disorders, hypertension, pulmonary diseases, weight management, and nutrition support.
Her past experience includes work in clinical nutrition (general hospital population as
well as critical care patients), community nutrition, and food service. Paula has been
working with the NBA D-League New Mexico Thunderbirds since 2008 and is currently
the team dietitian.
Paula is a board member for the New Mexico Nutrition and Dietetics Practice Board
which regulates state licensure for nutrition professionals. She is President-Elect for the
Albuquerque District Dietetic Association, and writes a monthly nutrition column for ABQ
Sports magazine.
Her professional memberships include the American Dietetic Association, the NM
Dietetic Association, and the Albuquerque District Dietetic Association. She is a
member of the American Dietetic Associationʼs Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness
Nutrition (SCAN) dietetic practice group, as well as the Weight Management dietetic
practice group.
